Syrian Vice President Abdel Halim Khaddam arrived in Algeria Saturday on a mission to muster support for the Palestinians prior to next week's Arab summit in Beirut.
"I was told by (Syrian) President Bashar al-Assad to meet (Algerian) President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and exchange points of view on the ways to assure a better support of the Palestinian people," he said upon his arrival in Algiers, according to AFP.
Khaddam spoke out against "the grave dangers that threaten Arab nations regarding what is going in Palestine, notably the ferocious repression of the Palestinian people."
He arrived in Algiers from Libya, were he had met with President Kadhafi, while Syrian leaders met Lebanese leaders in Damascus. (Albawaba.com)
