Syrian Foreign Minister Faruq al-Shara was to arrive in Egypt on Wednesday for talks the following day with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, the state press reported Wednesday.
Syria's foreign ministry said earlier this week al-Shara would "very soon" visit Egypt and Saudi Arabia to show support for the regimes. The White House confirmed Thursday that US President George W. Bush had opposed new aid to Cairo to protest against the jailing for seven years of prominent democracy advocate and US-Egyptian national Saad Eddin Ibrahim. (Albawaba.com)
