Sudan has regained its membership of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), ten years after the organization froze the African Arab country’s membership because of President Omar Bashir’s dissolution of the country’s parliament, Sudanese official were quoted as saying by the official KUNA news agency on Tuesday.
Speaker of Sudanese parliament, Ahmed Ibrahim, told the press that he had received a letter from the Sudanese parliamentary delegation, participating in the IPU's 105th conference in Havana, telling him that Sudan has regained its membership. Bashir dissolved the parliament in December 1999 during a dispute with former house speaker, Hassan al-Turabi – Albawaba.com
