Top jewellers from all around the world are set for a dazzling showcase at the Middle East’s largest jewellery exhibition, Watch & Jewellery Dubai 2006 as the event unfolds at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 12 – 16 December this year.

Significant growth seen in Dubai’s trading patterns in recent years has consolidated the emirate’s link with Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Dubai has provided the essential platform in identifying trends within the European, Indian Subcontinent and Far Eastern markets. It has also become a key trading hub for goods from the Middle East and North Africa, as it strengthens its foothold as a leading re-export jewellery hub in the world.

“Dubai is the perfect marketplace and ideal meeting point for the gold and jewellery sector. It has not only lived up to its name as the ‘City of Gold’, but has also surpassed this name as it continues to be on top of emerging markets,” said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) Director General.

Renowned for its leading diamond cutting and polishing centres, India’s export of gems and jewellery is estimated to reach 20 billion dollars by 2007 according to local projections. At Watch & Jewellery Dubai this year, over 26 Indian jewelers will be presenting the best of their collections, especially in gold, to meet the soaring demands in the region and its strong Indian community.

Dubbed as Asia’s jewellery hub, and renowned for its competitive gem-setting skills and design capability comparable to world class European manufacturers, Hong Kong has established a strong and enduring partnership with Dubai. The Hong Kong country group, led by the Hong Kong Jewellery and Jade Manufacturer’s Association, will be joined by Hong Kong’s famous jewellers Wisecorp Group Limited and Tasaki Shinju (H.K.) Ltd, to stage a prominent presence in the exhibition this year.

Watch & Jewellery Dubai 2006 will also play host to the brand new Egypt country pavilion. Egyptian jewellers will make debut with its exotic gems and unique collections, as it looks towards the Middle East for market breakthrough and expansion.

Italy will once again have a strong showing, continuing its long term support and endorsement for the event. The Italian country group will be joined by some new exhibitors such as Imma, Voluptus, and Moraglione.

At Watch & Jewellery Dubai 2006, attendees can look forward to a whole host of new activities organised by DWTC, including the WJD Gala Dinner, Catwalk of Jewels, and the daily Prize Draws of more than AED 50,000 to be won. The WJD Gala Dinner, which will feature a charity auction and host the first-ever Jewellery Industry Awards, will be donating all profits from the dinner to the Emirates Diabetes Society’s Brighter Future Program.
