Siemens Power Generation has booked service orders with utilities across the United
States including NRG, CPS Energy and Minnkota Power. The scope of service will
include rotor replacements, turbine and turbine-generator upgrades and blade
replacements. The orders total in excess of USD90 million.
NRG, located near Houston, Texas, has awarded to Siemens an order to replace its
existing low pressure turbine rotors on the Parish Station Unit 8 with two,
modernized design rotors. Installation of the rotors is planned for spring 2008.
Earlier, NRG awarded to Siemens the upgrade to the Parish 6 high pressure turbine.
Siemens also just completed the successful installation of the Parish 7 high
pressure-intermediate pressure turbine element.
CPS Energy, a municipal utility also located in Texas, awarded to Siemens turbine
upgrades for its Deely Station Units 1 and 2. The upgrades consist of hardware and
installation for a high pressure-intermediate pressure and a low pressure turbine
rotors for each unit. Scheduled implementation for Units 1 and 2 are for spring 2008
and fall 2007 outages, respectively. Deely Station is located in San Antonio.
Minnkota Power Cooperative awarded to Siemens a turbine-generator upgrade at the MR
Young Station Unit 2, located in Center, North Dakota. The project scope includes
hardware and installation for modernized high pressure-intermediate and low pressure
turbine rotors, generator stator and rotor rewinds, boiler study, thermal cycle
study and various other components. Installation of the upgraded components is
scheduled for fall 2007.
The Power Generation Group (PG) of Siemens AG is one of the premier companies in the
international power generation sector. In fiscal 2005 (which ended September 30),
Siemens PG posted sales amounting to approximately EUR8.1 billion and received new
orders totaling EUR11 billion. Group profit amounted to EUR951 million. On September
30, 2005, PG had a work force of approximately 33,500 worldwide.
