ALBAWABA - According to a report by the Israeli news website Walla, an Israeli businessman has been detained by the Israeli intelligence services Shin Bet following accusations of being involved with Iran and plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

A joint statement by the Israeli police and the intelligence services revealed that the businessman was detained earlier in August after being caught having contacts with Iranian intelligence services.

The man is believed to have managed his communications with his Iranian connections while in Turkey, before entering Iran through Turkish-Iranian borders.

On Wednesday, the Israeli news website Walla reported that Hezbollah had planned to assassinate former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon.

The Israeli army stated on Tuesday that it had foiled an attempt by Lebanon's Hezbollah to assassinate a top security official.

The Israeli army further stated that Hezbollah intended to assassinate a senior Israeli security official with an explosive device. However, Israel did not release the identity of the individual targeted by Hezbollah.
