Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defense Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum said Wednesday that worries on the part of Arabs and Muslims regarding the current US-led anti-terror war were baseless.
"The current military action in Afghanistan does not scare us, as Arabs and Muslims, because we are not targets. Terrorism and those who support it are the targets and we are not one of them,” the official Emirates news agency (WAM) quoted him as saying.
Sheikh Mohammad blamed the media for “mixing things and blowing things out of proportion in order to make news,” while “they are the last to know.”
He asserted that the UAE market and daily life had not been affected by the events in Afghanistan. "Our life is natural and is going smoothly. Nothing will tarnish our life which is stable in all levels, including commercial and economic activities and various development programs."
The statements by the sheikh came during his visit to the American University in Dubai.
According to the agency, Sheikh Mohammad said the AUD would develop and introduce new majors, so that it could absorb all students seeking higher education.
Sheikh Mohammed said that he had ordered that the AUD be merged with the Dubai Technology, E-Commerce and Media Free Zone Authority.
The Dubai Internet City and the Media City will open doors for university students who specialize in these majors, he added. Student will receive training and will be provided with jobs after graduating – Albawaba.com
