Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the crown prince of Dubai and the UAE's defense minister, on Monday met the judges and participants in the International Holy Quran Awards contest being held in Dubai, the UAE’s official news agency (WAM) reported.

Sheikh Mohammad discussed with the judges the progress of the competition and ways of further improving the scope and standards of the award.

Sheikh Mohammad was quoted by the agency as saying that the award was a means to encourage youth to participate in marking the holy month of Ramadan, to memorize the Holy Quran, and to increase the number of people doing the same throughout the Muslim World, WAM said.

Sheikh Mohammad will announce the names of the winners of the Holy Quran contest during a ceremony Wednesday evening in honor of the Islamic Personality of the Year, Alija Izetbegovic – Albawaba.com
