Israel’s Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon strongly criticized Sunday Egypt's President, Husni Mubarak. Cabinet Secretary, Gidon Sa'ar, said after the weekly cabinet meeting that Mubarak and his aides "had made unwarranted comments" against Israel's government, headed by Sharon, and that they had invited Israeli leaders to visit Egypt, using the visits to condemn Israel and its prime minister. Sa'ar said this was "a blatant attempt to intervene in Israel's internal affairs," Israel Radio reported.
Last week, when Israeli Foreign Minister, Shimon Peres held talks with Mubarak, the latter said he didn't believe Sharon has a peace plan. Mubarak added he had no hope as long as the incumbent Israeli government does not have a clear peace plan.
In comments to reporters in the Egyptian capital Sunday, Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher said accusations Egypt was meddling in Israeli affairs were "baseless." (Albawaba.com)
