The MENA Summit, being held from the 24th– 25th January 2007 welcomed for the very first time the German Logistics Association (BVL) in Dubai. Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) is the platform for supply chain management and logistics topics in Germany and its network extends worldwide. The summit seminar aims at discussing “Business Success between the Middle East, North Africa and Europe".
This year, Sharjah International Airport not only attended the summit, but also had Dr. Ghanem Al Hajri, Director General of the Department of Civil Aviation & Sharjah Airport Authority addressing the audience. Dr. Ghanem Al Hajri, Director General of the Department of Civil Aviation & Sharjah Airport Authority has played a key role in the growth and success of one of the region’s leading sea-air hubs.
Leading business experts in the Middle East, Asia, North Africa, Europe and even the sub-continent of India are speaking on opportunities and challenges in the Arabian markets. One of the fundamental business models in the region is logistical successes through Sea-Air transportation concepts. Speaking on this important aspect, in the supply management chain, was Dr.Ghanem Al Hajri, a pioneer in the region’s aviation and freight logistics.
The summit is being hosted at the Hotel Park Hyatt at the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. A large part of the audience includes members of the BVL, German Logistics Association, who are key players in the international freight forwarding industry. The opening speech of the summit was given at 9:45 am, and from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Dr. Ghanem delivered his speech on “Successful Sea-Air Solutions within Global Supply Chains”.
Dr. Ghanem Al Hajri said, “It has been a pleasure to be a part of the MENA 2007 summit and to have had a chance to speak to the audience. The Middle East presents a fast growing business environment with huge strides made in recent years in the field of logistics. The UAE is a gateway to markets in Europe, the CIS, Asia and North Africa and is a natural, central point in the Global Supply Chain with the varied logistical options that it offers in the overall distribution concept. Sharjah International Airport was home to the first airfield in the region and has decades of experience in connecting international markets and meeting logistical requirements.”
The Sharjah International Airport is undergoing massive expansion currently and recently released record commercial flight, passenger traffic and freight figures which have soared dramatically in 2006.
