The head of the Kuwaiti team in charge of executing agreements with Saudi Arabia on the two countries' shared neutral zone said on Wednesday that the kingdom was satisfied with Kuwaiti efforts, reported the official Kuwaiti news agency, KUNA.

In a statement to the agency upon arrival from Jeddah, where he spent four days, Jassem Al Oun said the Saudi leadership was pleased to see the important executive steps taken by the work teams in a year of implementing these agreements, which were signed 15 years ago.

Oun and the Saudi ambassador to Kuwait, Ahmad bin Hamad Al Yahya, signed last April the final lists of Saudi citizens entitled to residential lots in the new Al Khairan region, which musters 840 such slots. Under the agreement, the Kuwaiti government is to build the infrastructure of the area.

A first accord was signed in 1965 on the division of the neutral zone. Another agreement was signed in Riyadh in 1988 to settle once and for all the issue of properties of Saudi citizens - Albawaba.com
