Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed Col.-Gen. Gennady Troshev as commander of the North Caucasus military district, the presidential press service declared Wednesday.
Col.-Gen. Vladimir Boldyrev, previously the commander of the Siberian military district, was named as the top general in Chechnya, the Kremlin added.
The declaration said Putin highly appreciated Troshev's achievement at the post, but criticized him for discussing military decision in public. On Tuesday, Troshev told the press he had been offered the post of Siberian commander, but said he had no interest in leaving Chechnya. (Albawaba.com)
