Well-informed sources in Damascus told Al Quds Al Arabi newspaper that a major government reshuffle is expected soon in Syria. The sources, which asked not to be identified, said this move will take within President Assad's bid to reform his administration.
According to the newspaper, the long time Foreign Minister Farouk Sharaa will be removed as many Syrians officials blame him for the country's isolation in the international arena. Sharaa has been the head of Syrian diplomacy since 1984.
Syria's Minister of Information, Mahdi Dakhlallah, is also expected to lose his job. In recent months, there has been growing criticism about his work and his inability to present Syrian stances in the international media regarding the assassination of Lebanon's ex-premier, Rafic al Hariri.
