Quake Hits Northwestern Iran, No Injuries

An earthquake, with an intensity of 3.5 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale, hit the city of Bonab in the northwestern Iranian province of Azarbaijan on Saturday, with no injuries reported, said the official Iranian news agency (IRNA).  

The seismological base of Tabriz University registered the epicenter of the quake at the center of the city of Bonab. 

The quake was felt in parts of the capital city Tabriz.  

The earthquake, which was accompanied by a loud sound, terrified many local residents but left no damage, said the agency.  

Bonab, with a population of 123,000, is located 120 kilometers south of Tabriz – Albawaba.com
