Iranian religious leaders have met with Hamas officials to urge retaliatory strikes after Israel's attack last week that killed Hamas' military leader, Salah Shehada and Palestinian civilians, a Qatari daily said Monday.
According to Al Watan, a Hamas official living abroad met "two days ago" in Tehran with an Iranian religious figure. Israel Radio, meanwhile, said Foreign Minister Shimon Peres met Sunday night in Paris with his Qatari counterpart, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem al Thani to discuss ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
Al Watan reported Qatar's foreign minister told Peres the need on Israel's part to abide by the accords it signed with the Palestinian Authority, despite the deterioration in relations.
Sheikh Hamad urged Peres to implement the peace plan proposed by U.S. President George W. Bush, according to the report. (Albawaba.com)
