Islamic leaders closed their summit in Doha on Monday with a call to break ties with Israel, after a last-minute protest by Kuwait over the wording of a resolution on Iraq.
Qatar's emir, as president of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), proposed to send an OIC ministerial team to the United Nations to press for a halt to Israel's "aggression" against the Palestinians.
In a closing address, he said that OIC foreign ministers would contact the UN Security Council and its five permanent members.
Ezzedin Laraki, head of the Organization of the Islamic Conference, said the final resolutions on a host of Islamic issues had been handed out and read a Doha Declaration outlining the policies and aims of the 56-member grouping.
At the start of the meeting, he asked for any objections to the resolutions, to which there was no reply.
Kuwait's Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah had protested at an earlier session that "the text of the (Iraq) resolution was neither read nor distributed."
Chairing that session, Qatar's Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani replied, "You have the documents and they are in your hands," to which the foreign minister retorted, "I have not received anything," an AFP journalist witnessed.
It was not immediately clear how the row was resolved to allow the closing session to go ahead, a day earlier than the scheduled close -- DOHA (AFP)
