Qatari Oil Minister Abdullah Al Attiyah said on Tuesday that OPEC had not received any request from Washington to hike supplies to help revive the global economy after last week's attacks on the United States.
“We have not received any request to increase production,” Attiyah told Reuters, as quoted by the official Saudi News Agency (SPA).
When asked whether the United States had asked the oil exporters to boost output to help cool off prices, the minister said that “OPEC will study very carefully the market situation, supply and demand and if there is any shortage OPEC will intervene.”
“We will not let the market suffer, we will help stabilize the market.”
