PRO TECHnology marks foray into Nigerian markets

Dubai based system integrator PRO TECHnology has signed a distribution agreement with PC Outlet, a leading Nigerian IT and Telecom distribution company, to market their Dicota Mobile office solutions and Freecom Hard Drives to end users in Nigeria. The agreement was signed at Gitex 2006 where PRO TECHnology is showcasing a host of industry-leading solutions.

PC Outlets, Nigeria’s leading IT and Telecom retailer, sells more than 2,000 different range of products that support nearly every device that uses memory, from computers, servers and printers to MP3 players, digital cameras and cell phones through its retail network. PC Outlet currently partners with leading brands including Sony, IBM/Lenovo, Acer, Apple, HP, Dell, Palm, Lexmark, APC and Microsoft. The company started operations in 2005 with a single office in Lagos and has grown to 25 within two years. Through its well-connected retail network across the country, PC Outlet serves consumer retail, small-to-medium businesses, corporate, government and education customers.

Dicota Mobile office is a universal power adapter for all the mobile computing equipment. It is a complete energy source for mobile computing, which solutions in the Multi Trend 16', Multi Trend 17' and Multi Trend 18' cases designed in particular to house large notebooks. The Freecom Hard Drive for PC and Mac is the first external hard disk to be available in the minimalistic aluminium housing with LED display. This high-quality and simultaneously cost-effective 3.5" data medium is equipped with passive cooling, and therefore dispenses with a fan. This will available with capacities of 80, 160 and 250 GB, is therefore particularly quiet in operation, and therefore ideally suitable for use in the home.

Nigeria is the biggest and fastest growing IT and telecom market in the Western Africa. The IT spend in the country exceeded US$ 6 billion in 2005, which represents 60 per cent of the total spending for the region. With an annual growth rate of 25 per cent, the IT spending is expected to touch US$ 25 billion by the year 2020. Nigeria is also ranked most advanced world economies in the Africa. Nigeria is a country of about 126 million people and has the second largest economy in sub-Sahara Africa, with the GDP for 2005 coming in at US$38.7 billion.
