Lebanese police have found three hand grenades in a bag next to a road leading to the US Embassy in Beirut, officials said Sunday.
The grenades were found late Saturday some 500 meters from the fortified compound in Aukar, a hilly suburb north of the Lebanese capital. The officials said police patrolling the embassy area saw a suspicious looking object being thrown from a Mercedes car carrying three men, who drove away.
According to AP, police stopped to examine the object and discovered it was a bag containing the three grenades. Prosecutor-General Adnan Addoum confirmed the incident on Sunday, telling The Associated Press that investigations were underway. (Albawaba.com)
