A Yemeni Parliament Member on Monday condemned the "psychological torture" of some of the 104 people being held in the country on suspicion of terrorism links.

MP Sultan Hazzam al-Atwani told AFP news agency that "some" of the detainees told a parliamentary commission set up to investigate their conditions of detention that they had been subjected to "psychological torture" and "pressure to make confessions."

"Some of the detainees told the parliamentary commission that they had been arrested on a simple suspicion or because of a relative who had lived in Afghanistan," he expressed.

He added that, "the detainees accused of terrorism reject such accusations leveled by the Yemeni intelligence services." The MP further said the detainees had been "interrogated by both Yemeni and US investigators, with the former acting as interpreters for the latter." (Albawaba.com)
