A Palestinian was killed Monday after being hit with three bullets fired by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank, a hospital source told AFP.
Tawfik al-Jueidi, 34, was shot with three bullets from a machine-gun when he went to the Israeli-Palestinian passing point in the south of the town of Qalqiliya "to see what was going on," witnesses said, according to the agency.
The witnesses said there were no clashes at the time, an account contradicted by the hospital source, who said Jueidi was killed in a gun battle between Israeli forces and Palestinians, said the agency.
Palestinian sources told Albawaba.com that Palestinians opened fire at a military vehicle in the area.
The incident followed the killing of five Israelis in a drive-by shooting north of the West Bank town of Ramallah that triggered warnings of reprisals by Prime Minister Ehud Barak.
Two other Palestinians were killed Monday in clashes in the Gaza Strip, while Ahmad Dahlan, 19, the nephew of Mohammad Dahlan, head of Palestinian preventive security in Gaza, died of injuries he received days ago.
The death brings to 208 the number of Palestinians killed since violence broke out September 28, 13 of whom have been Arabs with Israeli citizenship -- Albawaba.com
