ALBAWABA - Violent settler assaults broke out in the adjacent town of Duma early on Wednesday, while an Israeli military raid in the Old City of Nablus murdered a Palestinian man.

Hamza al-Khamash, 33, was shot in the thigh at close range after Israeli commandos broke into his house, according to Al Jazeera.  Later, he passed away from his wounds.  During the same operation, an Israeli military vehicle hit a Palestinian, injuring another.

In a different event, about 300 Israeli settlers attacked the town of Duma, south of Nablus, with the help of Israeli military.  At least three locals were hurt when Israelis set fire to five Palestinian cars and two animal farms, according to local sources that Al Jazeera quoted.  According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, a youngster was struck in the eye by a rubber-coated bullet, another guy was wounded in the knee, and a third man had shrapnel wounds to his hand and eye.  They were all sent to hospitals in the area.

Additionally, according to Al Jazeera, Israeli soldiers destroyed infrastructure and residences during their more than 70-day siege of Jenin and Tulkarm.  The city's refugee camp was deemed "uninhabitable" by the Jenin municipality, which noted that more than 21,000 people had been evacuated and that more than 600 dwellings had been demolished.

Palestinian leaders, however, denounced the ongoing violence by settlers, especially while Israeli police were there to defend them.  Since October 7, 2023, more than 940 Palestinians have been murdered and 7,000 injured across the West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Human rights organizations and international organizations have called for a rapid de-escalation and safety for Palestinian civilians in response to Israel's continuous escalation of military operations in Gaza.
