Outgoing Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei confirmed on Saturday that he did not run in next month's Palestinian legislative elections and thus didn't withdraw from any list of candidates, referring to reports that he resigned from Fatah primary list.
"I did not run as a candidate for the legislative elections to withdraw my candidacy. I strongly rejected the consensus of the Fatah Central Committee to nominate me and I always confirmed I will never run for legislative elections," Qurei told press conference in Ramallah on Saturday.
According to RNA, he expressed his astonishment for the reports that he wanted the No. 1 position in Fatah list.
Regarding Israeli reports that Jerusalemites will not participate in elections, Qurei said that elections should be postponed because of this. "It is the main issue. We must not go to elections without Jerusalem," Qurei said.
