Organisers Announce Expansion of Arab Health 2007 Conference Program

The Organisers of the Arab Health Congress today announced the titles of the 2007 series of specialised conferences which will run in parallel to the Arab Health exhibition taking place from 29th January to 1st February 2007 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre, United Arab Emirates.

The 2007 program will feature a total of 16 specialist conferences, an addition of 2 conferences over 2006, dedicated to improving healthcare provision across the Middle East. Arab Health 2007 will include: Leaders in Healthcare, IT in Healthcare, 2nd Middle East Obs and Gyn Conference, Orthopaedics Conference, Middle East Laboratory Management and Medicine, Complementary Medicine, Hospital Design and Upgrade, 7th Middle East Imaging and Diagnostic Conference, Advances in Laparoscopic Surgery, and 3rd Middle East Wounds Congress. New additions to Arab Health 2007 include: Molecular Imaging for Cancer, Oncology Update, Management of Rheumatic Diseases, Middle East Urology and Nephrology, Middle East Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Conference and Vascular Surgery.

Dr. Abdul Ghaffar M. Abdul Ghafoor Al Hawi, MB.BCh, M.P.H, Assistant Undersecretary for Curative Medicine, Ministry of Health, President Emirates Medical Association, UAE, adds, "The Ministry of Health's support of Arab Health and the promotion of Continuous Medical Education shows our commitment to promoting education for all healthcare professionals and raising standards in the UAE."

Key international experts from across the globe will be sharing their expertise in their respective fields during the conferences, which will attract approximately 5000 delegates.

Commenting on the addition of the Management of Rheumatic Diseases Conference, Dr. Humeira Badsha, Specialist Rheumatologist, Dubai Bone and Joint Centre, adds, “One in a hundred people in the Middle East are affected by rheumatic diseases at some point or another. The inclusion of this specialist conference will help medical practitioners improve diagnosis rates and ensure early, aggressive treatment to improve quality of life.” The conference will include presentations from world-renowned specialists on pertinent topics such as osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis and imaging in rheumatoid arthritis.

The Middle East Physical Medicine and Rehab Conference will address the rapidly expanding needs of the regional rehabilitation market, currently valued at over US$ 7 billion per year. Topics will include paediatric rehab, musculoskeletal and neurological disorders and geriatric rehab. Dr. Suad Trebinjac, Consultant and Head of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department, Rashid Hospital, Dubai, UAE, comments, “Rehabilitation is often a long and painful progress spanning many months or sometimes years to achieve complete recovery. The two day program will provide the platform to discuss and interact with faculty and fellow delegates on current concepts and improvements in the area of rehabilitation.”

The two-day Orthopaedics Congress will focus on advances in the areas of hip, knee and spinal surgery. The conference will include sessions dedicated to sports medicine and paediatric orthopaedics, complimented with a workshop on the paediatric complication, Clubfoot, a congenital foot condition, which affects approximately 1 out of every 1000 births.

The Arab Health Congress is accredited by the American Academy of Continuing Medical Education (AACME), and is only one of a handful in the world to have received it with commendation.

Arab Health 2007 is supported by the UAE Ministry of Health (MoH), The Department of Health and Medical Services (DoHMS) The General Authority of Health Services, Abu Dhabi (GHAS), and The Emirates Medical Association (EMA).

Physicians from across the region who attend the Arab Health Conference sessions will earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits as the sessions are recognized by the American Academy of Continuing Medical Education (AACME). IIR ME has passed a series of rigorous and internationally recognized standards for the provision of continuing medical education and quality health care, set by the AACME, and has subsequently been awarded status as an “Accredited Organization with Commendation”. Over 17,000 worldwide health care organisations are accredited by the AACME.
