Nine Saudis were killed and four others seriously injured in a road accident in the north of the kingdom, Al-Yawm newspaper reported Wednesday.
The thirteen involved in the accident were passengers in two cars travelling between the towns of Nairiya and Khafji, the paper said.
The four injured, including a young girl, were admitted to hospital in Nairiya.
Saudi Arabia has one of the world's highest rates of road accidents, mostly due to speeding, according to the transport ministry. More than 78,000 people have died in Saudi road crashes since 1970, official figures show.
Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz said last August that traffic accidents killed one and injured eight every two hours in the kingdom -- RIYADH (AFP)
