If it is the thrill of Motor Racing that you are after this weekend, then look no further than the Dubai Autodrome for the third round of the national raceday the UAE's premier motor racing series, on Friday the 15th of December.
The national raceday open to two forms of race cars, the Motorworks GTI Cup featuring 238 bhp track modified VW Golf GTI and the Bartercard Gulf Radical Cup featuring the SR3 Supersport Radical racing cars. Powered by a 252 bhp Powertec Suzuki engines, the SR3 have proven to be the world’s fastest one-make sport racing car. In addition the third round of the national raceday comprises the UAE National Superstock Bike championships featuring 600 cc inline four-cylinder bikes all battling over the challenging track of the Dubai Autodrome.
During the second round that took place on the 1st of December, Costas Papantonis took both races, leading from start till end. Costas Papantonis is leading the overall championship with 42 points followed by Yazan Rijleh with 24 point and Micheal Timberlake in third with 19 points.
The Bartercard Gulf Radical Cup is rapidly becoming the Gulf’s fastest motor racing series. The competition is very strong in this series and all the drivers will go on track to end Karim Al Azhari's domination especially after winning both races in the previous round. With 102 points and 3 wins in this season Al Azhari is leading the championship with 6 points lead over Mohamad Al Owais and 11 points over Omran Al Owais.
After a drenched round back in December the 1st the UAE National Superstock Bikes current standings go respectively Abdul Aziz with 38 points. Grant Yake lies second with 30 points and Craig Murirhead third with 25 points. The last round saw, Johnnie Pienaar snatching a hard win in the first race while Abdul Aziz won the second.
Friday will see qualifying and race one and two for all categories, general public are invited free of charge to enjoy a jam-packed day of thrilling motor racing action.
