Jordan’s King Abdullah arrives Sunday in Cairo for talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on the “latest situation in the Palestinian territories and ways to resume negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis,” reported Al Ahram daily.
The Jordanian monarch will stay in Egypt for “a couple of hours” before heading to France on a two-day official visit.
“The two leaders will also discuss the Egyptian-Jordanian peace plan aimed at halting the escalating situation in the Palestinian territories and ways to resume negotiations,” an official said, cited by the paper.
On Saturday, Palestinian President Yasser Arafat held similar talks with Mubarak in Sharm El Sheikh.
Arafat called for a “second Sharm summit” to resume negotiations with the Israelis.
Within the same context, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Amr Moussa on Saturday criticized Israel’s policy on peace with the Palestinians, describing it as contradictory, according to the official Jordanian news agency Petra.
“Contradiction between the Israeli Prime Ministry and Ministry of Foreign Affairs makes Arabs look to the whole matter with deep doubt,” Moussa told reporters – Albawaba.com
