Morocco’s Prime Minister Abdurrahman Youssoufi arrived in Brussels on Tuesday for talks with Belgian and European Union (EU) officials and parliamentarians on matters of mutual interest.
Youssoufi, whose official visit begins Wednesday, is expected to meet with his Belgian counterpart, Guy Verhofstadt, speakers of the senate and house of representative, Arnamd de Decker and Herman de Croo, respectively, according to the Kuwait News Agency.
In the course of his visit, Rabat and Brussels will sign bilateral agreements in the fields of development cooperation, justice and transport, according to a statement by the Belgian foreign ministry.
Youssoufi, who will wrap up his visit on Friday, is due to hold talks with European commissioner for external relations Chris Patten, EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and European commissioner for justice and home affairs, Antonio Vitorino, in addition to the president of the European parliament Patrick Cox.
Morocco and the EU are committed to an association agreement as part of the Euro-Mediterranean partnership, which was launched in Barcelona, Spain, back in 1995. (Albawaba.com)
