Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has sent Norwegian prime minister, Magne Kjell Bondevik, a message, dealing with the developments of the Sahara issue, mainly with regards to the role of the United Nations Security Council.
The message, which was delivered to the Norwegian Premier Wednesday by human rights minister Mohamed Aujjar, focused on the UN Security Council's role in promoting the political settlement proposed by the UN secretary general and his personal envoy, James Baker, according to Maghreb Arabe Presse.
Meanwhile, in another meeting with Norwegian secretary of state for foreign affairs, Aujjar made a detailed presentation on the Sahara issue and emphasized Rabat's readiness to promote a political solution on the basis of the framework agreement and in the respect of Morocco's territorial integrity, MAP said.
The Norwegian official said his country supports the UN efforts and stressed that Oslo is keen on seeing this problem settled for the benefit of stability and security throughout the Maghreb region. (Albawaba.com)
