This month Orbit will be airing a range of great movies on Cinema city, with plenty of premiers and more than 22 new titles airing Monday to Fridays at 20:00 KSA.

Highlight for the month include:
An action adventure night on the 11th, EL MARIACHI, Winner of the Audience Award at the 1993 Sundance Film Festival, El Mariachi tells the story of a young mariachi (Carlos Gallardo), an itinerant musician, who arrives in a Mexican border town looking for work. A case of mistaken identity ensues as a hitman with identical dress code and guitar case filled with weapons shows up in the city same day.

On the 12th, Academy Award® winners Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins sparkle in this witty, touching drama about a transatlantic romance 84 CHARING CROSS ROAD. A vivacious New York writer with a passion for literature, writes to a London bookstore in search of rare English classics. Frank Doel (Hopkins), a good-natured, reserved Englishman, answers her request - thus beginning an extraordinary relationship that spans two continents and two decades.

On the 13th, CALIFORNIA SPLIT as one of the most deliriously entertaining movies ever made about the sport of gambling. Director Robert Altman at his best, complete with all of the standard features -- overlapping dialogue, casual asides, random noises, and effortless, seemingly unscripted banter. Elliott Gould and George Segal star as, “loveable losers,” but they never resort to manipulation in order to secure our empathy.

On the 19th, ABSENCE OF MALICE, a first-class drama with outstanding performances from everyone in its fine cast, leading from the front is Academy Award® winner Sally Field as newspaper reporter “Megan Carter”. she shapes up against a veteran Academy Award® winner Paul Newman, totally in command of his character “Michael Gallagher”, a wholesale liquor dealer who happens to be the son of a now deceased bootlegger. Carter thinks of herself as liberated, independent and career-oriented. Gallagher has made an art form of staying out of trouble.

On the 20th, BIRDY - One of the most accomplished, most emotionally powerful movies of the 80s and Alan Parker's remarkable drama of loss and redemption, the story of a powerful friendship between two teenage boys growing up in the slums of Philadelphia in the early 60s. Birdy (Matthew Modine) and Al (Academy Award® winner Nicolas Cage) are outwardly very different, but they complement each other and form an extraordinarily strong bond.

On the 27th CASUALTIES OF WAR, the film is based on a controversial true story. Brian De Palma's powerful Vietnam drama benefits from two impressive central performances. Sean Penn and Michael J. Fox star in this unflinching look at the moral ambiguities of war and its dehumanizing effect on the combatants.

On the 31st, Academy Award® winner Richard Dreyfus once more together with Amy Irving starring in THE COMPETITION. An excellent contemporary movie revolving around the changing values in male-female relationships.

All of the above titles and many more new great movies are available for our viewers during May on Cinema City.
