More than 60 killed in martyr blast at petrol station

According to BNA, a Martyr bomber killed more than 60 people and wounded more than 100 Saturday in Mosayeb when he detonated himself next to a petrol station, police and medical sources said.
Casualty figures were provided by the hospital in nearby Hilla, 100 kilometres south of Baghdad. Police sources in the city said that most of the victims were civilians. The bomber set off his charge next to a petrol tanker at the filling station, creating a huge blast. The explosion took place in a busy market, close to a block of flats and near mosque at the time of sunset prayers. Earlier Saturday, three soldiers from the 8,500-strong British deployment based mainly around the southern city of Basra were killed by a bomb blast in the town of Amarah, a defence ministry spokesperson said in London. The three are believed to have been killed by a roadside bomb, said the spokesperson. Two other soldiers were wounded in the attack. The soldiers were from 1st Battalion, Staffordshire Regiment, who are based at Tidworth in Wiltshire, said an official statement. The deaths bring the total number of British personnel killed in Iraq to 92.
