MIDDLE EAST INTERNATIONAL CABLE, SATELLITE, BROADCAST & COMMUNICATION EXHIBITION CABSAT2006 OPENS TODAY

The 12th Middle East International Cable, Satellite, Broadcast and Communication Exhibition, CABSAT2006 opens today (March 7, 2006) at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

A total of 439 companies from more than 45 countries are showcasing the latest technology and state-of-the-art equipment to over 8,000 trade visitors over the next three days.

“The latest technologies in Mobile TV, HDTV, IPTV and Broadband via Satellite as well as other developments in broadcast and production equipment sectors are all on display,” said Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) Director General, Helal Saeed Al Marri.

“Visitors to the show can also see a range of demonstrations and product launches all located within the exhibitions three main sectors, ‘Broadcast & Production’, ‘Cable & Satellite’ and ‘Communications’ “ he added.

Major names including Selevision, Eurostar, Triax, Technosat, eVision, Arabsat, Eutelsat, Dubai Studio City, Snell & Wilcox Oasis, Panasonic, SONY etc. are just some of the exhibitors looking to network and do business at CABSAT2006.

Running alongside the exhibition is a major broadcasting conference and two satellite symposiums, free to all trade visitors. The two-day CABSAT 2006 Broadcasting Conference scheduled for 8th and 9th March is entitled “Digitalisation - The Continuing Challenge for Broadcasters”. The conference will analyse developments and convergent technologies within the broadcast, satellite and telecommunications industries with particular focus on HDTV, IPTV and Mobile TV.

The 2nd GVF Satellite Symposium held on 8th March 2006, will focus on “Growing the Broadband Networking Environment & the Middle East Satellite Imperative” and is being organised by GVF in conjunction with CABSAT & the Middle East Satellite Communications Community.

Delegates will discuss how the unprecedented demand for IP-based services is driving millions of potential end-users, including large-enterprise, SME, SOHO and residential users, to demand cost-effective access to broadband communications solutions.

“Answering Satellite Communications Challenges with DVB-RCS” is the topic of debate in the 1st Middle-East DVB-RCS Symposium organised by SatLabs, on 9th March 2006. The symposium will bring together both existing and potential users, operators, service providers, managers, policy makers, equipment manufactures and non-profit organisations.
