Backup your data’ says Maxtor at Gitex 2005. This message is being communicated strongly via an exciting mix of informative & promotional consumer-focused activities which are taking place at the DWTC halls. Maxtor’s Backup Awareness month long campaign, (BAM) which kick-started earlier this month, aims to raise the awareness of consumers as well as small & medium businesses, on the importance of backing up their valuable digital data.
In parallel to conducting informative seminars, Maxtor will be running a raffle draw on a daily basis on their partner stand, Delta Business Products (Hall 2, Stand N2-4), whereby visitors to the show will have the opportunity to win Maxtor OneTouch II (300GB) external hard drives twice daily. Running in tandem, there will also be an Emirates 2 FM radio show sponsored by Maxtor broadcasting live from the DWTC halls. The show is designed to bring people the latest technology news from Gitex, plus the opportunity to win additional Maxtor OneTouch II (300GB) units daily.
“At Gitex this year, our focus is very much on educating users on the importance of protecting their valuable digital data; including pictures, music and many more,” said Rajeev Mukul, GM, Maxtor Middle East & Africa. “External storage drives are an ideal choice for users looking at purchasing reliable, affordable and portable solutions that will ensure that their critical & valuable data is backed up regularly & securely.”
Maxtor offers a complete line of award-winning external backup and storage solutions for home users, creative professionals and small business users. End users can choose from the Maxtor OneTouch™ II family for simple storage and backup for personal use (250GB, 300GB & 500GB capacities), Small Business Edition for small server back-up, Maxtor Shared storage for networked environments and Firewire 800 edition for the fastest data transfer speeds available (with triple interface). Maxtor also offers retail hard drives kits and accessories, offering its customers a choice and flexibility for their storage needs. Maxtor will be showcasing its extensive line of affordable external personal storage devices on their retail partner stand, Delta Business Products.
As part of the campaign, Maxtor is promoting a five-step "best practices" program for basic protection.
1. Develop a backup schedule--backup data regularly, on a daily or at most weekly.
2. Backup everything--today users can easily backup all of their computer hard drive data. No need to spend time sorting through every file or folder. Invest in a storage solution that's twice the size of your internal hard drive to give your system room to grow.
3. Do it automatically--set it and forget it. Use a solution that's easy to set up and provides automatic backups.
4. Rotate backups--give added protection in case of an earthquake, fire, flood, or theft. Use two drives and rotate one offsite.
5. Don't delay--unfortunately, the need to backup data is often a lesson learned from an unfortunate experience. Don't let it happen to you. Have you done it today?
