Manish Malhotra, India’s leading celebrity fashion designer, yesterday (Monday, October 16, 2006), unveiled his special Eid and Diwali collection at his flagship store Manish Malhotra in Jumeriah, Dubai. The new collection has been designed for the upcoming festive season that begins with the Indian festival of lights, Diwali, and will be closely followed by Eid ul-Fitr.
“I have been eagerly looking forward to this time of the year to launch this collection, and what better place than Dubai to unveil this. With its massive Indian and Arab population, we expect this new festive collection to generate major interest in the coming days. What makes Diwali and Eid so special, is the fact that these festivals are celebrated by everyone irrespective of their religious beliefs. These are festivals that symbolise togetherness, sharing and peace, and my latest collection has been designed to reflect the true spirit of Eid and Diwali,” said Manish Malhotra.
The Eid and Diwali collection is marked by embroidered fabrics, vibrant colour combinations and prints, and intricate designs. Specially designed shelas, abhayas, jalabiyas, skirts, tunics, corsets, kurtas and sarees will form an essential part of this collection.
Ever since it’s opening in July this year, the Manish Malhotra store has created considerable buzz among the fashion conscious Arab, Asian and Western customers in the UAE. More than half of the clothes at the store are Mumbai-made traditional wear, while the rest consist of new designs catering to Arab and Western customers. Sarah Rashid, Vice Chairman of Saif Belhasa Group, who are the franchisers for the store, has also contributed to the store’s rapidly growing popularity.
“The Eid and Diwali collection is a reflection of Manish Malhotra’s culturally-sensitive style of design,” said Sarah Rashid. “From a business perspective it makes perfect sense to launch a collection like this as people generally tend to indulge in shopping during major festivals, and we are confident that customers will find this collection truly special.”
Located opposite the Mercato mall in Jumeirah, “Manish Malhotra” is the first flagship store for the designer, and offers avant-garde garments and accessories for the Arab world.
