Giant joint GCC industrial ventures could get the green light now the territorial dispute between Bahrain and Qatar is over, a Bahraini minister declared Tuesday.
In a report by the Gulf Daily News on Wednesday, Oil and Industry Minister Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa was quoted as telling the Shura Council that international drilling companies were being invited to resume exploration in the Hawar Islands, now that the dispute has been resolved.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) verdict had ended on Friday the 62-year border dispute with Qatar, giving Hawar island and Jarada rocks to Bahrain, while the other disputed islands went to Qatar.
“We are inviting international drilling companies to come to Bahrain and explore opportunities here, said Sheikh Isa.
It is time now to attract local, GCC and foreign investors to invest their businesses in the country and Hawar, to ensure more economical, tourism and industrial developments, he added.
