On Thursday, Egypt said it supports Sudan’s unity. "Egypt will stand with Sudan's unity and its people's endeavors to enhance this unity," Foreign Minister Ahmed Maher, speaking to reporters, quoted President Hosni Mubarak as saying in a meeting Thursday with Sudan's Information Minister Mahdi Ibrahim.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, Ibrahim and Sudan's State Security Minister Yehia Hussein arrived in Cairo Tuesday to brief President Mubarak on the framework agreement Khartoum reached with the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA) on July 20.
Ibrahim told reporters Thursday that he assured Mubarak that the agreement would not lead to an independent state in southern Sudan. (Albawaba.com)
