The Lockerbie trial was adjourned Friday until next week, when defense lawyers will resume closing submissions to the court, reported AFP.
Judges agreed to adjourn until early Tuesday, when William Taylor, who is speaking for Abdel Basset Ali al-Megrahi, will conclude his arguments, said the agency.
It will then be the turn of Richard Keen, for Megrahi's co-accused Al-Amin Khalifa Fhimah, to sum up his case, it added.
On Thursday the defense pointed an accusing finger at accusation to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command claiming it was behind the blowing up of Pan Am over the Scottish town in 1988, killing 270 people.
Taylor said that a cell of the PFLP-GC based in western Germany carried out the attack.
The Lockerbie trial was adjourned Wednesday for one day to allow defense lawyers to study the final text of the murder charge against two Libyans accused of the December 1988 bombing after they failed to obtain a secret document from the Syrian authorities. The Syrian government refused to hand over evidence, which was considered vital to the defense case, according to the defense.
Both defendants, Megrahi, 48, and Fhimah, 44, pleaded not guilty.
Al Jazirah satellite channel’s correspondent said that a not guilty verdict is a possibility, or at least the the defendants will be acquitted for lack of evidence after the defense succeeded in rising doubt over the evidence provided by the prosecution – Albawaba.com
