Linda Barker, one of London’s most innovative decorative painters and interior design consultants, will be appearing in the Jotun Inspiring Ideas Theatre at the Dubai Ideal Home Show 2006, joining other celebrity designers who have already pledged their support to the region’s unique event for homeowners and home-lovers.
The leading show, which brings together a host of experts in various sectors from interior designing to property and the world of culinary, is scheduled to be held from November 30th - December 3rd, 2006 at the Airport Expo Dubai.
“Linda Barker is a high-profile popular figure associated with style and good homes. Best known for her hit series ‘Changing Rooms’, Linda has agreed to participate and interact with the visitors offering tips on the trends in the design world with her personal touch,” said Mr. Christopher Hudson, Exhibitions Director of Messe Frankfurt, organizers of the show.
Linda is best known for her ‘Changing Rooms’ hit series. With just AED3,415 (£500), the team in the TV programme gives one room a well-deserved makeover. The budget has not changed for over seven years, making the job all the more challenging every year. The programme has been a phenomenal word-wide success, moving from BBC2 to BBC1 and then on to every English speaking TV territory. At its peak, with Linda in the show, it reached a UK audience of over ten million viewers per episode.
Linda offers creative solutions to home decorating problems in her “Changing Rooms: Trade Secrets” book and her 200 tips and recommendations cover all facets of interior design, decoration and repair. There are invaluable home décor hints and advice, creative do-it-yourself projects, and more.
In 1999 Linda began co-presenting for daytime BBC1. She was also the co-presenter on Planet Christmas, a three part special for BBC2, broadcast prior to Christmas 2001. She has appeared on a number of other TV programmes, including House Invaders, GMTV, and The Antiques Show.
Readers of House Beautiful magazine overwhelmingly voted Linda as Designer of the Year in 2003, and she was voted TV Personality of the Year 2003 by Your Home Magazine. Her books have sold over a million copies in countries around the world, and her latest book Wall To Wall is a collection of over 100 original wall treatments.
Linda will be appearing along with other renowned celebrity designers including Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen (her co-host in ‘Changing Rooms’ programme), Paul Bishop, Gordon Russell and Mary Gilliatt, landscape expert Grant Donald and leading Feng Shui consultant Georgia Kiafi to interact with the visitors at the Dubai Ideal Home Show 2006.
“The presence of such renowned designers and experts will lend an exceptional element to this year’s show and we are confident more homeowners and home-lovers will be visiting the show, especially the Jotun Inspiring Ideas Theatre, to listen to what these experts have to say about interior decoration and the world of design. The show will surely be remarkable in its range of offers to visitors,” pointed out Mr. Hudson.
Last year more than 200 exhibitors and over 7,000 visitors attended the event, and organizers expect the event to attract many more homeowners this year.
The Dubai Ideal Home Show will have dedicated zones including Interior Design Zone, Garden and Ladscaping Zone, Furniture Zone, Kitchen to Table Zone, Home Technology Zone, Arts & Crafts Zone, Property Zone, Festive Zone, Room Sets and Feature Gardens, covering every aspect of a home to cater to different segments of the visitors.
