Libyan leader, Moammar Kadhafi is creating a fund to help the families of victims of terror attacks, including those from the Lockerbie disaster, his son said in an interview in Berlin.
Seif Kadhafi, in Germany to promote an exhibition of his own art, told the weekly magazine Stern that some money had already been put aside, without saying exactly the amount, AFP said.
Apart from the families of the 270 victims of the 1988 Lockerbie bombing, for which a Libyan intelligence agent has been convicted, the money would also go to relatives of those who died in the "La Belle" disco bombing in 1986.
Three people died and around 260 were injured in the blast at the former West German discotheque. A German court ruled last November that Libya was behind the attack.
Seif Kadhafi, aged 29, said that Libyans affected by US reprisal attacks in 1986 would also be compensated.
In May, Time magazine said the Libyan leader was preparing to make a substantial offer to the loved ones of those killed in the airliner bombing over the Scottish town of Lockerbie, implicitly taking responsibility for the explosion. (Albawaba.com)
