As part of its aims to promote academic development amongst the members of Jodan's youth, LG Electronics (LGE) organized a nching event in which it honoured the four lucky students that were chosen to take part in the LGE "Leadership Program" a scholarship and internship program.
This program was first initiated in light of an agreement signed, between LGE Jordan, the Middle East Complex (MEC), an agent for LGE products in Jordan, and the University of Jordan in July 2005. The signed agreement stipulated that LGE support a number of distinguished students from the university by covering their tuition fess, and enabling them to take part in relevant internship programs as well. LGE also took it upon itself to further solidify its support for the educational sector in Jordan by inaugurating the “Korean Studies Unit" on the University Campus that same year and this addition to the university campus helped introduce interested students to different aspects of the Korean culture.
The honorary event, which was held last month at the Reem Al Bawadi Restaurant, was aimed at both recognizing and congratulating students Qamar Abu Aysha, Lima Al Hasan, Mohammad Hiary, and Ahmad Mehesin for being selected to take part in the LGE scholarship program. The lunch was attended by the Deputy Head of Scientific Faculties at the University of Jordan, Dr. Nabil Al Shawafqa, The University's Dean of Student Affairs –Continued-
Dr.Khalid Rawajfeh, LGE's General Manager- Amman Branch Mr. T.Y. Lee, and last but not least Mr. Ghazi Farouq the Assistant Director of MEC.
Commenting on the scholarship program offered by both LGE and the University of Jordan, Mr. T. Y. Lee said, " LGE, sees itself as an entity that works inline with H.M. King Abdullah II’s vision for global integration, for our scholarship program does not only cover tuition expenses for students but it also grants them the opportunity to get first hand experience from LGE, the leading provider of quality products and services in the Jordanian market, for as part of their study, these students will also be undergoing extensive training and they will take part in internship programs that will help develop not only their technical talents but also their leadership skills."
From his end, Eng. Lima Al Hasan, a selected student, took the lunching event as an opportunity to thank both LGE and the University of Jordan for selecting her as one of the candidates to take part in the scholarship program, and about her selection she said, "I thank LGE and the University of Jordan for presenting to me this unique opportunity, for I look forward to going to Korea after my graduation. There, I will be getting first hand experience from LGE, and I would then use the experience I have gained to further my professional career in my home country. I will be sure to use this opportunity to benefit my national economy and the LGE industry in the region as well, for it is not every day that we are -Continued-
