LG’s eco-friendly fuel-cell powered e-book has bagged the reddot ‘best of the best’ award for highest design quality 2006. The award was presented at the red dot design museum in Singapore.
This award was on top of a slate of other awards that LG won, including the ‘Design Team of the Year 2006’, and ‘red dot: best of the best’ awards for its T1 Express Dual notebook and wall-mounted projector (AN110).
The LG ‘e-book’, which won the prestigious best design concept award is an eco-friendly notebook using natural gas, methanol and other liquefied fuel cells. Its ergonomic features highlight usability and portability.
This award-winning notebook that features an OLED display on four sides and touch-sensitive controls, demonstrates LG’s superiority in design, and technological innovation. The LG ‘e-book’, along with other prize-winning entries will be displayed at the “International Design Concept 2006/2007” exhibition at the red dot design museum.
Shim Jae Jin, Director and Vice President of LG Electronics’ Digital Display and Media design research institute, explained: “The design concept award presented to LG is an affirmation of creative strengths, and LG being in tune with the digital age and environment. The LG notebook swept the best awards not only in product design but also in the concept category, a firm endorsement of LG as a top design leader.”
Competing for the red dot design concept award were 478 products from 39 nations. Out of a total 72 accredited products, 12 were granted the ‘red dot: best of the best’ certification.
