Lennox Lewis' defense against Michael Grant will be the biggest championship fight in history - a combined 13 feet and 497 pounds of champion and challenger and if Grant should win he would be the tallest champion ever.
The 6-foot-5 Lewis officially weighed 247 pounds on Thursday, while his challenger Grant, 6-foot-7, weighed 250 for their 12-round match Saturday night in Madison Square Garden.
Lewis is not complaining about who the judges are for his world heavyweight championship fight.
Disappointments and tension arose when the thirty four year old Englishman had to settle for a draw in New York last year with Evander Holyfield in a fight, which most observers thought he won.
This uproar led to justifiable changes in how fight judges will now be chosen in New York. This new arrangement was used to select the three judges who were named Thursday to judge Lewis's title bout Saturday against unbeaten Grant.
Thailand's Anek Kongtongkam and New York's Steve Weisfeld will be representing the WBC while New Jersey's Melvina Latham will be representing the IBF on the judging panel.
Lewis' promoter Panos Eliades comments on the situation, "I'm very happy with them, they are excellent judges. Excellent judges."
The New York State Athletic Commission appointed the trio along with referee Arthur Mercante Jr.
Eliades threatened a walkout last week if the judges proved unsatisfactory, saying, "They have to be careful how they treat us." – (Agencies)
