A Lebanese military tribunal has sentenced two former South Lebanon Army (SLA) militia members in absentia to 20-year jail terms with hard labor for collaboration and contact with Israel, reported the Daily Star newspaper on Monday.
Antoine Atallah Nohra and Antoine Aql Youssef Nohra were convicted of having worked for Israeli security agencies.
Mohammed Mubarak received a seven-year prison sentence for SLA service and for shooting a member of the Hizbollah group.
Nine others were charged with collaborating with Israel and entering the Jewish state. Their sentences ranged from a year’s imprisonment to fines, said the paper.
Also, Nabil Sharqawi was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment with hard labor for terrorist acts. In December 2000, Sharqawi bombed a store in Majdalyoun, Sidon. Another man, Rida Ahmad Zanit, was convicted for the attempted murder of army personnel and sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labor, while two accomplices were each sentenced to five years of imprisonment, it added – Albawaba.com
