Lebanon’s military tribunal has sentenced five members of the South Lebanon Army (SLA) militia to death in absentia for killing resistance fighters who fought Israeli troops during the occupation of the south, reported the Daily Star newspaper.

Samih Masaad Mahmoud, Asaad Feghali Jamal, Nidal Tawfiq Jamal, Halim Ali Wansa and Samir Asaad Nohra were convicted of serving with the now-defunct SLA. Their whereabouts are not known, said the paper.

In the sentences and verdicts handed down late Friday, the court also sentenced in absentia Fahim Youssef Alam and Ahmad Shibli Saleh to 15 years in jail for joining the SLA, collaboration with Israel, entering the Jewish state and killing two resistance members – Albawaba.com
