Morocco’s King Mohammed VI arrived in Agadir Monday, coming from Beirut at the end of a visit during which he attended the Arab Summit, held between March 27-28 in the Lebanese capital city.

The King was welcomed upon arrival by Prince Moulay Rachid.

During his stay in Beirut, King Mohammed VI, chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, conducted diplomatic moves following the deterioration of the situation in the Palestinian territories due to the Israeli invasion of the headquarters of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) in the West Bank town of Ramallah.

According to MAP, the Moroccan leader held phone conversations with Palestinian President Yasser Arafat. The King had denounced in a release of the chairmanship of the Al-Quds Committee, the Israeli invasion of the Palestinian territories and warned against a generalized explosion in the Middle East region.

In addition, King Mohammed VI also sent messages to the leaders of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, to the UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, and to Spanish Premier, José Maria Aznar, who is currently acting chairman of the European Union (EU) Council.

Earlier this week, the King spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, calling him "to immediately put an end to military operations in the Palestinian territories, to lift the siege imposed on President Yasser Arafat and to guarantee the Palestinian President's physical integrity", MAP added.
