Jordan's King Abdullah II, and Queen Rania Al Abdullah arrived in Ankara on Tuesday on a two-day official visit during which he will hold talks with the Turkish president Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyb Erdogan.
The talks are expected top focus on relations between Jordan and Turkey as well as developments in Palestine and Iraq.
According to Petra news agency, the King will also meet on Wednesday with Turkish businessmen to brief them on investment opportunities provided by Jordan's economy to Turkish investors.
Upon arrival, the king and his wife were received by the Turkish president, a number of ministers and senior officials as well as Jordan's ambassador to Turkey.
In a statement to reporters at the airport, the Jordanian monarch said that he will discuss the "distinguished ties" between Jordan and Turkey as well as ways of enhancing cooperation in the political and economic fields.
"We will discuss tomorrow with Turkish businessmen the best means to help the private sector to promote trade and investment cooperation between the two countries," the King added.
The King affirmed that he will discuss with the Turkish leadership the Palestinian issue which is of great importance to Jordan, stressing the importance of putting an end to violence in the Middle East. "We have to do our best to put the peace process back on its proper track, for our region has suffered for a long, and it is now looking
for justice, security and stability," the King added.
"Jordan and Turkey are neighbors of Iraq, and they are clearly affected by the situation there, and therefore, we will discuss with our Turkish brethren the best means to help the Iraqi people to secure a free and dignified life," he added.
