Jordan's King Abdullah II on Sunday heads to the United States for a five-day official visit, accompanied by Queen Rania.
King Abdullah will seek US support for the new Palestinian government and the Middle East peace process.
Securing US and international “support for the Palestinian position will be the main goal of my visit to Washington,” King Abdullah said, according to the Jordan Times.
“What is required now is to rally international support to ensure the success (of the peace process) to help end the Israeli occupation and the suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people,” King Abdullah II had told deputies in Amman.
King Abdullah will hold talks with US President Bush at the Camp David presidential retreat in Maryland, on Thursday and Friday.
Accompanying delegation members are scheduled to meet with senior US officials on Thursday.
Prior to the Camp David visit, the Jordanian monarch is scheduled to meet with Vice President Dick Cheney and National Security Advisor Condaleezza Rice at the White House in Washington, KUNA news agency reported.
King Abdullah will also meet with Secretary of State Colin Powell and several Congress and House of Senate members, the agency added. (Albawaba.com)
