Jordan: Additional details of would-be bomber revealed

Details about the woman whose explosive devise failed to detonate in the deadly bombings in Jordan on November 9 were revealed on Wednesday by Jordanian authorities. Sajida Mubarak Al Rishawi, one of three Iraqi citizens designated as suicide bombers in three of Amman's hotels last week, had reportedly lost a brother-in-law to clashes with US troops in Iraq.

Her husband and a third individual successfully blew themselves up, taking the lives of 61 people with them.

Police had initially reported that Al Rishawi was arrested in Amman, though reports now claim that she had fled to relatives in the northeastern city of Salt where she was turned in, possibly by her relatives.

"She (later) went on to Salt because one of her relatives" lived there, Jordanian Prime Minister Adnan Badran told reporters of the AP.

Al Rishawi confessed to planning to blow herself on television Sunday. Responsibility for the attack had been taken by Al Qaeda in Iraq, led by Jordanian Abu Musab Al Zarqawi.

Jordanian police will reportedly question Al Rishawi in the coming month in the hopes of gaining information about Al Qaeda in Iraq. However, authorities fear that she may have few leads, as she only played a small role in the attack. If convicted, she could receive the death penalty.

Al Rishawi's brother-in-law had reportedly been killed by US troops in 2004.
