Technical manager of Jordan's Orthodox basketball team, Rizk Masri, confirmed Sunday that his team would not compete in the event of West Asia Basketball Championship, to kick off in Damascus on Tuesday.
"We are not ready for participating in the event, we have injuries among our players, and some of them are busy with their studies."
Earlier Sunday AFP quoted Jordan Basketball Federation as saying that Jordan will participate the event and listed names of the Orthodox players.
Protesting this, Masri told Albawaba.com that "the federation has no right to decide on behalf of us; this is not the national team issue, and we who make decision here."
The agency added the Head of JBF, Mudar Majdob insisted that Jordan will attend the event “even if we have to participate with eight players only.” – Albawaba.com
