Jordan’s King Abdullah II arrived in Abu Dhabi Wednesday afternoon, following his visit to Oman, to begin a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Jordanian monarch was received upon arrival by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and other senior officials, according to the Emirates news agency.

Earlier, Abdullah II left Muscat after concluding a special three-day visit, in which he held talks with Omani Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed. In the course of his visit, the two leaders discussed the latest developments in the Middle East region, in addition to developments in the Arab Gulf arena in wake of US threats to strike Iraq, according to KUNA.

Meanwhile, it was reported that King Abdullah II would pay an official visit to France on July 26, followed by a visit to the United States. A press statement said that the talks during the two visits would deal with the latest developments in the Middle East region, especially the Palestinian territories and the efforts which have been exerted to contain violence in the region as well as reviewing the Iraqi issue, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

The statement added that talks would also focus on Jordanian relations with France and the United States and means of strengthening them in all aspects. The Jordanian King's meeting with United States President George W. Bush on August 2 will be the sixth since the latter took office last year. (Albawaba.com)
